Heel is just right - high enough to look good but does not make the ball of foot ache. Fits well, but you have to "work" your foot into it as the elastic bands tend to initially keep your foot from working all the way down. If between sizes, get the larger one. Love the soft leather. The heel is a bit 70's but I can deal with it. Overall, this is a beautiful sandal. The only reason I am considering returning, is the pull on the thong area - the strap does not stay horizontal on me. It could be because I have long toes - so I don't want to dissuade you from this sandal. The elastic straps fit snugly without being too tight. They hold your feet securely and you never feel that you'll slip out. I have a very high arch and a narrow foot and it's a perfect fit. In white, these look fantastic. I actually prefer darker colors and tried a couple; they look too heavy (with both the straps and thick platform). This shoe is so comfortable - the leather lining is soft and the straps have elastic in them. It's a little higher than I usually wear but easy to walk in and no rubbing anywhere. Highly recommend!
