Love em' This is my 3rd pair of birk's. I love em. It takes a little getting use to the foot bed from wearing Danskos for about 2 years now, but I love them. They are so lightweight and cute. I wear longer skirts to work and they look wonderful. The leather styled ones are my favorite.

I've been converted - These were my first Birks every, and I don't know how I'll ever wear anything else. The break in for these took almost two weeks, and was pretty painful, but now they fit like a dream. I have extremely flat feet, and these are the only sandals I've owned that don't hurt. I can't wait to try other styles of sandals and shoes. I only wish they weren't so hippy granola.

Love this shoe - The color is really terrific! Like a rich bordeaux wine color. The comfort is amazing ( I have the hardest feet to fit with sandals). However, I took the advice and got this a size smaller and they fit perfectly. I am actually a size 6-6 1/2M and I got 35normal. I will buy this again in different colors and patterns. I'm not clear on the comments about the thong. If you wear flip flops one should be used to wearing something like this. Cheers

Gorgeous Red Sandals - It was love at first sight. Zappos didn't have my size (42R) in the Boudeaux, so I actually bought them elsewhere. But let me say that this is a wonderful-looking sandal. The leather is a clear, rich red--not an outdated drab burgundy or a fire-engine red--and it looks nice on my foot. The Gizeh is much more graceful than the traditional Birkenstock 2-strap sandal, which I've worn since high school. I think this looks more polished & stylish enough to wear to work, out to dinner, etc. I have high arches and need supportive shoes--it's nice to find a pair that are actually sexy and good for my feet. I deducted a star because they're a bit stiff at first, like every other pair of Birks I've owned. I can feel a blister forming on the top of my foot where the strap rubs, but the leather is already softening.

Comfort and Slimming - I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the Gizeh wasn't bulky, but was slimming. Also very comfortable but I found that I fit better in a size larger lengthwise.

Love these Birks! These are my second pair of Gizeh, and I love them. Totally comfortable, stylish (at least to me!), and easy to walk around in (you don't have to try to keep them on your feet like some other Birks). My only complaint is the weird tan line I now have on my feet!

Gizeh - my summer staple - I wore my previous pair to death over four or five summers, so this was a replacement pair. I love these sandals! I can wear them with anything. They instantly dress up my casual outfits, but add a casual flair to my dressier ones.

Awesome except for the toe part - I have gotten lots of compliments over this sandal. It is very comfortable, but I have to say the least comfortable of my other Birks. First, I got a mega blister under my 3rd metatarsal while first wearing them. I have been using Body Glide to make this easier to wear and this works wonders. I am hoping that in time, I won't need it. Now as for the toe part, it doesn’t cause me blisters, but it does hurt. For some reason, I keep sliding my foot forward and it hits between my big and 2nd toe and this hurts! I have not lost hope; I will continue to break them in, if this is what it is. But if it keeps hurting, I guess I will just stop wearing them. As for the fit, the 35 wide works wonderful as a perfect fit for me. I am a true size 5 and this size works.

I was surprised that the toe strap/separator was made out of hard plastic; I thought that it would be made of leather or at least covered in a softer material. It doesn't seem to be uncomfortable, though. Birkenstocks *do* tend to run a bit large, but there should be some wiggle room in the sandals for when you walk around. I had a pair of Birkenstocks that I got in Germany that were a size 40, I ordered the same size here and they didn't fit as well. Maybe the sizing is a bit different (larger) in the sandals that are made for export? The sandals are comfortable but do take some breaking in. Once you break them in you won't want to wear anything else!

Runs Huge - According to the size chart and ones on other sites a US 8 is Birkenstock 39. I ordered some from another site recently and a 39 is huge on my foot. I felt like I was putting my foot into a size 10 shoe. I will agree that narrow is really a regular and the regular width is really wide. My foot was swimming in the shoe. I didn't notice anything overwhelmingly comfortable about it. I think I would probably take a 37 or 38 in this shoe. It's at least 3 inches too large in length and 1-2 inches too large in width.

Great sandals - beware sizing guidelines! I was sooo confused when I went to order these sandals. So I decided to take a chance and order the 36 regular - despite Zappo's recommendations. I originally wear a 6 1/2, and the 36's are fine. But I should have ordered the narrow. I've always worn a medium to wide, but the Birkenstock regular is really wide. The 36R doesn't look funny, thank heavens - so I'll keep the 36R.

Comfortable and versatile - Great summer sandals that can go from work to club to Saturday errands. They take some breaking in - both the footbed, which is a bit stiff, and the thick leather straps, but like all Birkenstocks, once you're past that point, they're incredibly comfortable. I wear a 39 in my other Birkie shoes and clogs, and these were perfect in a 39 as well.

Order 2 sizes down! These are not quite as comfortable as the Arizona’s for me (the toe thong is a bit too tall - so not as snug a fit), however they look INFINITELY more stylish and so for that reason I am willing to endure the (relative) pain. Note that these run VERY large - I actually wear a Euro 39 (US 8-8.5), but in these I fit a 37!

Comfortable and cute - I'm not actually a Birkenstock wearer, but these are cute and give my feet a break from heels. I ordered a 36 normal since my feet are on the wide side. Zappos mistakenly sent me a 36 narrow, which actually turned out to be a blessing since the "normal" probably would've been too wide. The only thing is that they're a bit too long. I could've gone down to a size 35, but alas, Zappos doesn't have it in black. I'm normally a size 6 in most sandals. An otherwise fantastic casual sandal.

I’m a guy and I wear these! I first bought these 9 years ago in black patent. I received so many compliments and they were so comfortable. I wore them out. I think they are chic and guys can wear them. I bought a size smaller than I actually wear, since that is the largest available but they fit. I’m glad they are now available in real leather.

Birkenstock Gizeh’s-wonderful alternative to traditional thongs! I have several pairs of Birkenstock Gizeh shoes and have found them extremely comfortable, with wonderful support and the way the shoes fit my foot, I've discovered the back shoe bed keeps the bottom of my feet from getting dirty and cracked. Other shoes do not provide this kind of fit. I was concerned that the part of the Gizeh style that goes around the big toe might be uncomfortable but NOT AT ALL! I don't even feel it. I love the Gizeh style - true Birkenstock quality in all ways.

Don’t give up - When I started wearing the sandals, they rubbed between my toes and gave me little blisters. Now I wear them every day. Don't give up even though they take a good 2 weeks to break in. I even crave wearing them after work for their comfort!

False Alarm!!! I'm keeping them! In my previous comment, I said that this shoe is marked 1.5-size larger. Untrue. It's only a full size larger than marked. I tightened the buckle one notch and the fit is now perfect! I'm soo happy. And so it is: 36 European IS 6 to 6.5 American size. Zappos, I'm keeping this shoe after returning 4 sandals with you. Man, it's still too big! I was so excited to receive this order and thought that this time around, I'll get to keep (and not return) sandals from Zappos. This shoe is marked "37 European size = 6 to 6.5 American size." Untrue. 36 European size is 6 to 6.5. I'm most of the time a 6.5. However, even with the 36 European, the shoe is still too big! I can't believe I have to return this again to get the 35 European. I have to return again. I hope you still have this in 35 European.

Great sandals! This is my first Birk experience. So far, I've been very pleased. The contoured sole cradles my arch and provides excellent support. There are a few days of break-in time. However, shortly after I purchased these sandals, I wore them all around the National Mall for July 4th celebrations. They were wonderful. I purchased both the 36 medium and 36 narrow to compare sizes. The narrow was perfect on my foot. I actually wear a six 6 but the 36 (5.5-6 equivalent) fit perfectly.

Great travel shoe - I ordered a pair of Birkenstock Gizeh shoes and took them to Europe with me. My luggage was lost for 6 days and all I had were my Birkenstocks, but I was never uncomfortable and was very glad that I had worn these on the plane. Great purchase. Gizeh review - I have problems getting used to the thong between my toes. It is not smooth enough and cuts me so that I have had to put doeskin tape around it and I am still having trouble and can't wear them for too long. I would look into making the thong or whatever you call it softer. The bottom of the sandals is wonderful. I have other Birkenstocks and I know it takes a while to break them in.

Couldn't stand it between my toes... Maybe it's just me, but the thong between the toes was REALLY uncomfortable... more so than a regular flip flop. It may take time to get used to but I didn't want to go through the pain or blisters. Also, this shoe runs a little big.

So happy - I love this sandal. I have very flat feet and I have tried tons and tons of shoes. This is the ONLY one that feels wonderful, offers wonderful support, and even looks cute with skirts or dresses. I can walk all over the city in them, and I get compliments on them too. I highly recommend these. I got them in a 39 even though I’m most of the time a 40, and they fit well.

This is a wonderful shoe!! It only took a day or two to break them in, and now they're the most comfortable shoe I've got. Birks are wonderful in general...but this style is really good looking. I'm most of the time a 7, and I ordered a 38, fits fine.

Summer Sandal - This sandal was somewhat smaller than most of the time buy but I'd bought Birkenstocks before and knew to get a smaller size than I wear in other sandals. It takes some breaking in time, but again, I'm used to the feel of Birkenstocks so that didn't bother me. On this particular sandal I didn't like the style as much as I expected I would. The rounded part of the leather just above my toes appeared bigger than I expected and looks too big for some reason. I don't know why they made it that big.

Love em' This is my 3rd pair of birk's. I love em. It takes a little getting use to the foot bed from wearing Danskos for about 2 years now, but I love them. They are so lightweight and cute. I wear longer skirts to work and they look wonderful. The leather styled ones are my favorite.

I've been converted - These were my first Birks every, and I don't know how I'll ever wear anything else. The break in for these took almost two weeks, and was pretty painful, but now they fit like a dream. I have extremely flat feet, and these are the only sandals I've owned that don't hurt. I can't wait to try other styles of sandals and shoes. I only wish they weren't so hippy granola.

Love this shoe - The color is really terrific! Like a rich bordeaux wine color. The comfort is amazing ( I have the hardest feet to fit with sandals). However, I took the advice and got this a size smaller and they fit perfectly. I am actually a size 6-6 1/2M and I got 35normal. I will buy this again in different colors and patterns. I'm not clear on the comments about the thong. If you wear flip flops one should be used to wearing something like this. Cheers

Gorgeous Red Sandals - It was love at first sight. Zappos didn't have my size (42R) in the Boudeaux, so I actually bought them elsewhere. But let me say that this is a wonderful-looking sandal. The leather is a clear, rich red--not an outdated drab burgundy or a fire-engine red--and it looks nice on my foot. The Gizeh is much more graceful than the traditional Birkenstock 2-strap sandal, which I've worn since high school. I think this looks more polished & stylish enough to wear to work, out to dinner, etc. I have high arches and need supportive shoes--it's nice to find a pair that are actually sexy and good for my feet. I deducted a star because they're a bit stiff at first, like every other pair of Birks I've owned. I can feel a blister forming on the top of my foot where the strap rubs, but the leather is already softening.

Birkenstock Gizeh - Adorable shoes! The toe thong took me a few days to get completely used to - the way this shoe is made isn't quite as comfortable as the Taboras at first. However, they are now just as comfortable as all of my other Birks! (Sizing tip: I take a 40N in all lines of Birkenstocks, but just like another person said, I had to get 39R because of the way this particular style fits.)

My Favorite Berkie - My Gizeh shoes are my favorite pair of sandals. They are by far the most comfortable sandals I own. I only wish I lived in a climate where I could wear them all year round.

BEST SANDALS FOR PROPER FOOT ALIGNMENT - In the Gizeh I have to buy them one size smaller and in the regular width for proper fit. I actually wear a 36N. In these I got a 35R. They do take a while to break in for the toe bar, BUT they are definately worth it. They are beautiful on and extremely comfortable! LOVE EM

Help for the thong newbies! I love birkenstock and wear gizehs almost exclusively. I have two pair one of which is five years old. They do actually take a bit to break in. I have worn thong shoes all my life and the plastic part on these babies still made my toes hurt at first! I would recommend wearing them around the house and on short trips for a couple weeks. If that doesn't help try bending the shoe a bit at the toe, this takes some of the pressure off the toe piece. It sounds like alot but once you and your birkies get acquainted they are truly an awesome shoe! Also in terms of size Birks are true to fit...in euro sizes. For the USA folks that means order about 1 to 1.5 sizes down. That should work.

Gizeh's are GREAT! What I like best about this style of Birkie is that it fits perfectly! Because of the adjustable vamp strap, anyone can wear this shoe and look wonderful. I am overweight and often have swollen feet...but these sandals continue to feel good even at the end of a long day. The absolute next best thing is that this style is simple, elegant, and feminine. I can easily wear this in the office without a second thought to style because I know it looks good with pants or a dress. These are my number one summer sandles!

Well, after much hype over these sandals I decided to try them. These felt awkward on my feet no matter how much I adjusted the strap, and I know they were the correct size. The thong piece is hard plastic and it hurt. The phrase "break the shoe in" is a mild understatement on these puppies. It's not worth it!

Best Shoe on the Market! I have at least a dozen pairs of Birkenstock's Gizeh sandals. I wear them day and night and find them the most comfortable sandals I've ever owned. The style works for both casual and dressy. Excellent support when standing many hours. My only complaint is I'm told this style is no longer being made in the narrow width. Please, please re-consider this decision. I've only bought one pair this winter which was the only one available in the narrow width. Many of my friends are now wearing Gizeh too, due to my continual praise of this style. Your Maui Birkenstock Stores are just superb! We spend our winters here annually. First admired them a few years ago on a lady who highly recommended them due to the comfort. She said she owned 35 pairs, I thought she was crazy then, but I'd be the same if they continued to make them in the narrow width!

Chic and comfortable- this is a beautiful sandal and the neutral color is even better in person. They are true to size. I wear an 8M and got these in the 39 narrow. Definitely recommend getting the narrow width as they make the shoe look less bulky (but no less comfortable).

A solid buy - I used to wear Birks quite a lot in college, but stopped. Bought this pair now 7 years later and like them, but have found that there is a spot on the sole that really rubs just below the ball of my foot and has left a small bruise. I'm sure this is partly because I keep stubbornly wearing them, but still. Otherwise, super cute and reasonably comfy.

Gizeh - I actually wear a 39 narrow (filled in footbed, which is medium width in US sizes) in Birkenstocks, but since that size wasn't available I thought I'd try a 38 regular (which should be a wider width). The width seemed to be very narrow even for a wider width. LOVE the shoe but since they don't have it in the correct size I gotta send it back. If it were only a bit wider this would've been a keeper. I do not wear things between my toes and was concerned this one wouldn't work, but I wore it around the house for a few days and the thing I noticed was the width of the shoe, not the thing between my toes. Give it a try if you are sure of your size.

I had been coveting these sandals for years - I finally got a pair yesterday. I had heard from a friend that the thong takes getting used to, but that it will get better. I know from experience that a Birk worn sockless must be a half or full size down from normal. In Euro size I'm 39 in Birks, 40, 41 or 41.5 in others, and in US I'm a 10. Winter Birks can be in your normal size.

Great sandal for walking! I disagree with the comments about comfort. Yes, they do take a couple of walk arounds to break them in because of the cork footbed, but they mold to your feet so that every time you slip them on after they are broken in the feel like a wonderful slippers you've had for years. As to the size - I agree that by American standards you should order a 1/2 to 1 full size down. I love the style as I don't feel like a complete hippie when I have them on! LOL!

Cute, but painful - I love these sandals... but they kill between my toes. The molded plastic (or whatever it is there) is way too hard and has no give... it presses down just enough to make this shoe very uncomfortable. I have tried so many times to "break them in" and many years later it still has not worked. I hope your luck with this super cute shoe is better than mine!

Cool Comfort - Takes some time to get use to the ripples and bumps, but once you do they are the most comfortable open toe sandal with all the support one needs for comfort and healthy feet. They are wonderful. I also like the strap closer to the ankle.

Comfortable shoe - I do like this shoe; however, I thought the leather portion that fits between your toes was way too big and floppy. It completely covered my big toe, looking very odd. I trimmed them with scissors, substantially and now they look wonderful.

VERY GOOD PURCHASE - This shoe is well worth the purchase. I have bunions and have always been loathe to wear sandals/slippers that expose them. But this slipper just seems to minimize the look of the bunion. It is very comfortable with EXCELLENT arch support. I am a convert! I cannot believe that I bought a pair of Birkenstocks and am loving them. I always found them way to dumpy, and not nearly stylish enough. Although not as gorgeous as some sandals, they keep my feet comfortable through a full day of walking and I still look pretty stylish! I have since bought a pair of the Heidi Klum Birkenstock clogs and they are fabulous, too! (This sandal did take a little getting used to as the part that goes between your toes is fairly large and metal)

Getting used to the thong - This is a very comfortable sandal, but you have to get used to the thong. I found that it made all the difference in the world to loosen the strap one notch so that the back part of your foot is not held tightly in. The principle behind Birkenstock shoes is that the toe area should be held in, but the rest of your foot should have room to move up as you walk forward; hence, loosening the strap puts less pressure on your toe area, and gives your toes enough room to grip the toe pad.

I ordered this sandal looking for a different sandal that supported my arch. I have had other Birkenstocks that are wonderful on comfort and support--but were on the ugly side. These are far superior in the style department. Did have to use a little Vaseline between my toes to hasten the softening of the rather hard leather piece between the toes. The toe grip ridge can be uncomfortable if you wear them to garden...otherwise I love ‘em!

I recently had foot surgery, so I needed a supportive sandal I could wear while being active. I did get this sandal in the 'regular' (aka wide) since I had the surgery and wanted to make sure there was plenty of room. This sandal is comfy, yet pretty stylish! I would highly recommend this shoe. The piece between the toe takes a little getting used to, but as with all Birks, they feel even better once they've molded to your feet.

These shoes are soo nice! I have been looking for this style of Birkenstock shoes for 2 years and found them at your store at a fair price. The fit is excellent. Tried them on to make sure of the fit and wore them for the rest of the day. No hotspots, no blisters! They are such sensible footwear and look good. Have received many compliments on the style and the most interesting ones have been "You wear those expensive shoes". During my work day I walk many hours and my feet are never tired or hurting when I wear these shoes. The color is a neutral shade and looks good with shorts, capris, jeans and skirts. The style is flattering to my foot (6M). Delivery is quick and efficient. My next purchase will be a pair of slouch boots, have already been scoping out the selection. Kathy.
